Don't Leave God Out Of The Equation

When asked to voice my opinions about this country and its political status, I would be remiss to comment without adding my spiritual beliefs as well, due to the fact that one cannot be expressed without the inclusion of the other. For, you will see by the company I keep, philosophically speaking, that I hold dear the morals and virtues that I have been taught by God, by my parents, by the great leaders of this land, but not necessarily by society. For I find society has digressed in its moral integrity, has been negligent in its devotion to the founding fathers dreams, including the documents that were created to secure our future and the integrity of this incredible country. But most importantly, society, in general, has forgotten the importance and the value of God in the equation. Without God, this country cannot stand. Without God, our country has no meaning. Without God, we are doomed to be nothing more than mere humans living on a continent without direction, without meaning, without value.
I am saddened by what I see. I still believe in what this country stands for and what it still can return to, but it needs its citizens to wake up and see the truth. It needs education, commitment and compassion of its people in order to regain the beauty and strength of this country. What this country needs is to welcome God back to the United States. God needs to be back in its schools, in its homes and buildings, on its roadways and in the hearts of every citizen. Then, and only then can this country be free, truly free from tyranny, oppression and slavery. "Of all the disposition and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports. In vain would that man claim tribute to patriotism who should labor to subvert these great pillars of human happiness – these firmest props of the duties of men and citizens … reason and experience both forbid us to expect that national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principles." - George Washington
"God who gave us life gave us liberty. Can the liberties of a nation be secure when we have removed a conviction that these liberties are the gift of God? Indeed I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just, that His justice cannot sleep forever." – Thomas Jefferson
"Were my soul trembling on the wing of eternity, were this hand freezing to death, were my voice choking with the last struggle, I would still, with the last gasp of that voice, implore you to remember the truth: God has given America to be free." – Patrick Henry
"It is religion and morality alone which can establish the principles upon which freedom can securely stand. The only foundation of a free constitution is pure virtue, and if this cannot be inspired into our People in a greater Measure, than they have it now, they may change their Rulers and the forms of Government, but they will not obtain a lasting liberty." – John Adams
"The longer I live, the more convincing proofs I see of this truth, that God governs in the affairs of men. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without His notice, is it probable that an empire can rise without His aid? We have been assured, Sir, in the Sacred Writings, that ‘except the Lord build the House, they labor in vain that build it." – Ben Franklin
"And whereas it is the duty of nations as well as of men, to own their dependence upon the overruling power of God, to confess their sins and transgressions, in humble sorrow, yet with assured hope that genuine repentance will lead to mercy and pardon; and to recognize the sublime truth, announced in the Holy Scriptures and proven by all history, that those nations only are blessed whose God is the Lord." - Abraham Lincoln
"We cannot read the history of our rise and development as a nation, without reckoning with the place the Bible has occupied in shaping the advances of the Republic. Where we have been the truest and most consistent in obeying its precepts, we have attained the greatest measure of contentment and prosperity." – Franklin Roosevelt
"Without God, there is no virtue, because there's no prompting of the conscience. Without God, we're mired in the material, that flat world that tells us only what the senses perceive. Without God, there is a coarsening of the society. And without God, democracy will not and cannot long endure. If we ever forget that we're one nation under God, then we will be a nation gone under." - Ronald Reagan
As you can see by the quotes above, I am not alone in my beliefs. I have come to my own through honest research, life lessons, moral observation and faith. I pray that you, the reader, find some direction, some hope, and an answer within these humble words. We must be an example for all nations to follow.
With God as our leader, we cannot fail.

This is a great article and one worth pondering upon. I have never understood how some people in the USA want God taken out of the schools, the government; how the Lord's Prayer or the Ten Commandments cannot be displayed in public. And yet they love to sing the song "God Bless America". What a contradiction. They can't have it both ways. As you probably know, I am not American, I am Canadian. Our national anthem has been rewritten several times over the years, but the latest version has been the best and I hope it stays that way. One of the stanzas says, "God, make our land glorious and free." This is the prayer that both Canada and our American cousins should pray every day. Keep God in our countries.Thank you David for your kind and wise words. As Christians, we need to keep God not only in our hearts, but to speak proudly of Him in our countries, towns, our schools, neighborhoods and homes. It matters not what country we call home, it is the fact that we call God our Savior that really is important. I pray that you are doing well and again, I love your poems and your heart. Blessings to you always.
